Made Just For My Friend Jessie

My best friend's birthday was this month..Happy Birthday Jessie!! I wanted to make her something special, so I picked out pretty fabric, cute details and colors that reflect her. And I could TOTALLY see her cooking in her little Swiss kitchen in the summer with a cute little apron. (Don't worry Jess if you don't bring it...I know you're packing is limited)

Voila, for my friend Jessie...

And it's reversible. Every girl should have variety.

It's all about the details. Pretty hand made flowers. Nonchalant and bold at the same time.

I hand picked these buttons for some added fun. The cat's name is Marmalade, Jessie's favorite cat.

With her blond hair, her bright personality, and natural lovelines, these colors reflect her!

Happy Birthday Jessie!!
And congrats this year for all you've accomplished. xoxo

Things Happen For A Reason

So this morning I get up early...really early (4:15am), so that I can get to work especially early. On the way to work I stop at a gas station to fill up the tank. As I pull on the door handle to get back into the car I realize the door is locked with my keys and everything in it. (The car isn't supposed to do that. It has a sensor where if the keys are close by, the doors don't lock) I explain to the cashier at the gas station if I can use her phone because I have locked the keys and my belongings in the car. The mean lady says "no" and doesn't seem to care. So I'm standing outside at 5:20 in the morning in the rain, hair and clothes getting wet, about to cry...then I notice the mechanic shop next door. John the mechanic, a sweet old Lebanese man who decided to also work early, let's me use his phone, offers me coffee, good company, and a warm place to wait while the tow truck is on its way. In that time I find out that John's wife passed away this time last year from Alzheimer's, and as he's sharing stories with me about his wife, he begins to cry. It's been a rough year for him....I begin to cry. We spend 20 minutes sharing family stories and I listen to his cherished memories of his wife. I'm glad my keys got locked in the car because today John just needed a friend and a hug.

Capturing Spring in Silver

Spring can pass without us realizing it.
Thought I should capture its beauty in silver before it breezes past me.

New Year New Inspirations

Happy New Decade! Where has the time gone? Last blog was in November. The last few months of the year are always a blur...birthdays, vacations, holidays, crafting over drive. What are your new year resolutions? How about tapping into that creative you!?

With a new year comes new inspirations, and I have so many ideas this year I'm excited to blog about them. For Christmas, my husband gave me supplies and material to work with Art Clay Silver. So in 2010 I'll be adding hand made silver pieces to my repertoire. I've already started working with it, and the process is well worth the result. I'll be posting pictures soon.

For me, 2009 was the year of self reflection and self discovery. I look at the past few years and I can easily say that I've been creating and crafting more than working (in the traditional sense.) Call it corny, but I think I'm a better person for it. The time I've spent being creative has been enlightening. Perhaps it's the slower pace, the living in the moment, the open time to think ...who knows. I welcome 2010 and can't wait to see where it takes me!

Bag-nifique!

I love bags, so making them is a natural progression. Choosing the fabric and adding a little unique detail gives them personality. So much fun!! These will be sold at the holiday show in December. Hope you like them! ;0)

Cute little bead embellishments. Reminds me of a friendly winter day.

It's hard to see them from this picture, but there are smoky grey beads sewn on top of the bigger flowers, and to glam it up a tad I added a big faceted shiny black button.

I adore this fabric. Has a vintage appeal, and the adorable old world flower buttons give it added charm.

Couldn't resist adding a flower. ;0)
